East Winds in Saint Lucia is an intimate, luxury, boutique property, it's family-owned and supporting the local community is a core pillar of the hotel's ethos. East Winds achieves this in many ways, from employing and training local people as their staff, to using local craftsmen, artists and materials for furniture. One of the key ways East Winds gives back, however, is through the Family Foundation, which was set up by Managing Director, Judith Milne, in 2017.
When she first came to Saint Lucia, Judith discovered that children from low income families often had to leave school early because their parents were unable to buy the books they needed each year to stay in school. The average cost of books is EC$1,000 per year or US$370. Those families who did manage to keep their children in school often do so by borrowing the money to pay for books, at high interest rates, with the result of causing general hardship for the whole family as they struggle to pay off the loan before the next set of books is needed.
In a country like St Lucia, education for future generations is a powerful tool to support the families that East Winds has come to care about and help create a positive future for their children. Helping to keep children in school results in educated young people who are able to contribute to their communities and their family, breaking the cycle of poverty that affects so many families in the Caribbean.
East Winds therefore launched a project to support the children in receiving proper education by remaining in school. To achieve this, the hotel asked guests to donate US$1 per room for each night spent at the resort towards the East Winds Family Foundation. Since the project started, the hotel has been able to provide all required school books, school bags and stationary to 46 children through the support of the hotel guests.
However, since East Winds had to close on 01 April 2020 due to coronavirus, little did they know they would still be closed in August, the staff would still be at home and the islands of the Caribbean would only just be edging towards opening the borders to tourists again. The decision to close was not taken lightly, but was required for the well-being of the East Winds staff, guests and the St Lucian community.
Over the last few months, valued guests have generously helped the hotel to keep paying the staff a small amount to keep them going, through their JustGiving page. This year, St Lucian families need support more than ever; Managing Director, Judith said:
"This year more than ever our families need your help, if you can help us continue the book buying program we would be so grateful. Every penny of all the money raised from now will go towards the children's books. Thank you."
We'd love to see the Family Foundation continue and if you'd like to make a donation, we'd be so thankful. The donation link is available here: www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/east-winds - we're thrilled that the fundraising has already raised over £25,000!

A local cultural event, festival or carnival can really add to an already amazing holiday. It provides an activity like no other, an opportunity to see more of the local culture and of course a bit of fun.
The Caribbean has a range of events, parties and festivals throughout the year, these are just some that we would like to recommend.
Jamaica Carnival. This event spans multiple parties, each with their own band, location and incredible hand-crafted costumes. The main dates for 2020 are April 16 – 20th and the major road march will be held on Sunday 19th.
Tickets can be booked for guests staying at the Jamaica Inn.
The events calendar of Nevis is full to bursting. Here are a few highlights, particularly for sporting enthusiasts
Nevis to St Kitts Cross Channel Swim. Taking place this year on March 29th, it is organized for swimmers of all abilities. Warm water and sea life accompany your swim and it all ends at a reggae beach bar.
Nevis Mango & Food Festival July 2nd - 5th 2020. A Caribbean food festival which is 100% unique. It happens on the island of Nevis and combines two of Nevis’ key selling points; its exceptional culinary scene and its over 40 varieties of mangos growing on the island.
There are several events in St Lucia throughout the year, but these are a few particular music events we would recommend:
St Lucia Jazz Festival - Taking place this year 7th - 9th May in collaboration with Jazz at Lincoln Center. The line-up features some of the top names in modern Jazz and takes place all over the island.
St Lucia Carnival - this takes place throughout the months of June and July but culminates 20th – 21st July. A vibrant series of events, you can see Steel Pan competitions, Calypso, parties and fetes.
Roots & Soul Festival - The 2020 dates have yet to be announced. This festival showcases musicians setting trends in reggae, hip-hop, Afropunk and R&B. It is a lively festival with both free and paid performances, masterclasses and more.
Tickets can be booked for guests staying at East Winds.
Barbados has lots to offer throughout the year but here are a couple that we recommend:
Grand Kadooment Day - Taking place this year on 3rd August, this celebration signifies the end of Crop Over. Enjoy masquerade bands, dancers dressed in sequined, feathered and jewelled costumes, music trucks and moving bars.
Barbados Jazz Excursion and Gold Tournament - Taking place 8th – 11th October, this unusual combination is a four-day Jazz festival with a charity golf tournament thrown in. The line-up includes big contemporary names in Jazz and R&B and plenty of time to see the island.
Antigua Sailing Week. Taking place this year April 25th – May 1st it is in the top three most prestigious regattas in the world. An exciting combination of sailing and partying make it an eventful week.
Antigua Carnival. Taking place the end of July and culminating the first days of August. This carnival features, Calypso, pageantry, costumes, bands, parades and more.

Bananas may be Britain’s favourite fruit, but most people only ever get to taste the fruits of the Cavendish variety. Those wanting to taste lesser known varieties should head to St Lucia and the East Winds resort where a ‘living banana museum’ is producing fruit from up to 10 different varieties.
Fruits ranging in colour from yellow to red and green can now be enjoyed by guests at the resort’s Flamboyant restaurant. As well as the Cavendish, East Winds grows the Gros Michel which has a delicious taste but can bruise easily, and the prolific Lacatan, that produces about 100 bananas on each plant, and is widely grown for export.
The banana museum was planted as part of East Winds’ efforts to help preserve varieties of bananas that are becoming rare either because they are difficult to grow or are difficult to transport and so only have a small local market.
The museum is part of the extensive kitchen garden at East Winds producing organic fruit and vegetables for use in the kitchens. A path through the garden enables guests to see plants being grown using traditional St Lucian methods.
As the average cost of a wedding has risen in the UK to hit a new high of £32,000, looking for an alternate option that is extremely special and doesn’t break the bank is getting more and more popular.
Weddings in the Caribbean provide this ideal alternative. From the weather and the personalised service to the world-class catering and the perfect honeymoon, it ticks every box.
The Guest List
One of the reasons for the hefty price of a wedding in the UK is the expense of feeding that long guest list!
Between families on both sides, friends, colleagues, family friends, school friends and who knows what else, the list can get rather large!
A huge benefit of a wedding abroad is you can bring only your nearest and dearest. Most Caribbean weddings are personal and quite private, so bring only the handful you really want to spend your special day with and leave no one offended.
We recommend: East Winds, St Lucia
This resort specialises in intimate sized weddings for a guest list of 2 – 72 people. With only thirty cottages, they offer a complete buy out of the resort to provide an exclusive experience, or if you are having a more intimate affair, you won’t be overwhelmed by other hotel guests.
Caribbean Weather and Environment
The Caribbean has remarkably steady weather, allowing for variation between different islands and months it generally keeps between a lovely 20-35 degrees year-round. Go in the dry season and you are almost guaranteed a sunny, warm and incredibly beautiful wedding.
Whether your idea of a Caribbean wedding is the all-out barefoot beach approach or a more formal indoor wedding, the sun, the beach and the ocean will always provide perfect photos and a dreamy backdrop for the wedding.
We recommend: Sandy Haven Resort, Jamaica
This resort has the location of a lifetime, with only 35 rooms all located on the Seven Mile Beach, the coastal views, sea breezes and sunsets can’t be beaten. The restaurant has ocean views whether you choose to eat inside or out, and the suits are a private oasis.
Ease of Catering and Arrangements
One fabulous perk of a wedding abroad is everything is in one place, with no hassle. You stay at the hotel, the hotel organises the catering, the service, the documents and anything else that’s required.
It is a hassle-free option, that is personalized for you. When the hotels are already five-star you are getting incredible wedding food and they provide flowers, buttonholes and anything else you want to have. You even have the spa right there for your relaxation and pampering before-hand.
We recommend: Little Good Harbour, Barbados
This resort has an excellent variety of vendors available, from their own in-house to a partnership with Barbados Weddings. The Fish Pot Restaurant will personally design a menu to suit your taste and budget. Truly every detail is taken care of to create a perfect stress-free day.
Combine the Wedding and Honeymoon
You flew to the Caribbean before your wedding and now that the ceremony is over, and you are ready for your honeymoon… it’s already begun! No need to pack and fly anywhere else when you are already in one of the most beautiful spots in the world.
The Caribbean is consistently in the top spots for recommended honeymoon destinations, and it’s not hard to see why. Pristine beaches, luxury hotels, azure waters and luscious nature creates a dream location for your honeymoon.
We recommend: Jamaica Inn, Jamaica
This hotel is rated in the top three for romance in the Caribbean in the Travellers’ Choice Awards and for good reason. From candlelit dinners, couples’ massages to alfresco dining, complimentary champagne and VIP airport passes, the Celebration of Love Package is hard to beat.

The Atlantis Historic Inn Surf Package
The Atlantis Historic Inn, sister hotel to our Little Good Harbour, is located on the Atlantic coast of Barbados. This is a quiet, peaceful and incredibly beautiful area of the country which is a little bit more off the beaten track.
Just five minutes from the Atlantis is Soup Bowl, an internationally renowned surfing spot. Famous for its barrelling right-hand reef break, this spot is a favourite of eleven times world champion, Kelly Slater.
This package provides access to these incredible waves and surf lessons where you can hone your skills. It is available year-round, excluding June and September. But the waves are best November to May when the north swells bring the heavy right-hand barrels that Soup Bowl is famous for.
Barbados provides a surfers’ paradise with pristine beaches, and a perfect average of 30°C air heat and 27°C water heat. Balance your day practising your skills on the waves or exploring the wonder that is Barbados.
Nevis is located near the northern end of the Lesser Antilles archipelagoand has a stunning volcano known as Nevis Peak at its centre. The prominent volcano surrounded by pristine sandy beaches creates a Caribbean island to be reckoned with.
Whether you enjoy your holiday relaxing on the beach, hiking the volcano, enjoying the natural hot springs or engaging in some snorkelling or water sports, good food is always the perfect accompaniment.
Here are our top seven recommendations for delicious dining on Nevis.
Paradise Beach’s exclusive beach bar is steps away from the hotel villas. Enjoy the tables or relaxing hammocks and chaise lounges right on the beach while you eat, drink and watch the waves lapping.
Breakfast on the beach is continental with home-made pastries and bagels. Wash it down with the freshest local fruit served whole or in a smoothie or salad. Add options of granola, yoghurt and the famous local Nevis honey and you have a tasty start to your day.
Or head to the beach bar for a wonderful and light lunch. The menu offers fresh salads, sandwiches and light fare made from local ingredients and the catch of the day. In the middle of the heat, delicious and light food is often the perfect match.
Return in the evening to enjoy the bar with the mixologists. A delightful and trendy range of cocktails is at your disposal.
Paradise Beach Hotel is something a little different for the Caribbean island of Nevis. Modern, chic and luxurious, it likes to surprise. One special treat is access to your own private chef.
Book in a private chef to come into your villa to cook for you personally. Always using the best, be it local produce, fresh seafood or homegrown spices. These chefs will create superb gourmet plates of food.
Your fine dining is available all day, with a private chef available to serve you delicious breakfast in your villa. Whether you want pumpkin pancakes, banana mango muffins, your favourite omelette or a traditional Nevisian breakfast it will all be world-class.
If you are choosing to enjoy some luxury, have a corporate meeting or something to celebrate, your own three-course top-class lunch or dinner served from the comfort of your own villa is something unforgettable. Tailor your menu for you and your family/guests to get something truly perfect.
Bananas is a gorgeous plantation-style restaurant, located right on the volcano hillside. It offers international comfort food with a good dash of the Caribbean thrown in. Their menu is both eclectic and mouth-watering. With a great atmosphere too, this spot is popular enough to be reservation only.
Mango's at the Four Seasons
Mango’s is situated on the edge of the Four Seasons at a walkable distance along the beach from Paradise Beach Hotel. The restaurant is situated right on the ocean, serving modern Caribbean cuisine and is a perfect spot to watch the sunset.
Sunshine’s is a local restaurant and beach bar famous for its tasty rum punch and Killer Bee cocktail. It has scrumptious local and fresh food – simple but delicious. Try the ribs, chicken wings, fresh lobster or fish for some tasty, simple fare on the beach.
Montpelier offers something pretty different. A six-course candlelit dinner served in a 300-year-old converted sugar mill. It provides a stylish ambience, with drinks, canapes and light, modern cuisine paired with fine wines personally chosen by the sommelier. Intimate, romantic and one of a kind!
The Golden Rock comes highly recommended as a great breakfast or brunch spot. This open-air restaurant has stunning views of Montserrat at Antigua in the distance. Also open for lunch or dinner, you can enjoy local and fresh seafood and fish. Finish it all with a relaxing stroll around the botanical gardens.
Wherever you look on Nevis, you will find excellent restaurants to taste both local and traditional food or modern and international cuisine. Enjoy the taste of Nevis!
Earlier this year Essential Detail hosted a booking incentive – the main prize: places on our luxury familiarization trip! This trip took place recently, lead by our Agency Sales Manager, Katie Wilkinson and attended by the winning luxury travel agents from Liphook Travel, Prestbury World Travel, Fred Olsen Travel, Travel Counsellors, Haselmere Travel and Baldwins Travel.
They had an incredible experience visiting different Caribbean islands and staying in a selection of our exquisite hotels.
This year’s Fam trip consisted of eight nights in the Caribbean, with time spent in East Winds – St Lucia, Young Island – St Vincent & The Grenadines, Bequia Beach Hotel– Bequia, Little Good Harbour – Barbados, and Curtain Buff – Antigua.
The lucky travel agents got to experience these beautiful properties first-hand. Indulging in delicious cuisine daily, pampering at the serene spas, sumptuous cocktails and the breath-taking environment, views and ocean that the Caribbean has to offer.
Each of the winning travel agents on the trip won a place following our Essential Detail Agent Incentivewhich took place earlier this year.
Take a look at the wonderful time the travel agents had and some of their feedback:
East Winds, St Lucia
"From the moment I arrived at the hotel, I felt totally relaxed. The gardens were beautiful and to see so many species of birds was a delight. The whole experience of staying here is one of total relaxation in an elegant informal surrounding. The staff were so friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed the Pilates and the teacher is fantastic! It was enjoyable to have music in the evenings whilst having dinner and I loved the open-air restaurant. Beautiful location and very, very friendly staff. I loved the reception held in the lounge plus rum tasting too."
"Arriving at Young Island, by private ferry, was a great experience to start a holiday. I was lucky to be allocated a 'Luxury Suite with Plunge Pool, I especially loved the garden shower. Breakfast was amazing and enjoyed trying the homemade bread which was INCREDIBLE!!!! Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed on St Vincent and you can take a Pirates of the Caribbean tour to the set, which we did, and it was fab!"
Bequia Beach Hotel, Bequia
"Bequia is a stunning Island in the Grenadines, which has yet to be spoilt with mass tourism. The hotel, therefore, remains unique as far as experiences go. The rooms here were my favourite, my Junior Suite was so spacious and had great sea views, the bathroom was modern and light and again spacious! A real jewel of the Caribbean that would not disappoint anyone. Food fabulous at Bagatelle and Jacks bar/location was unbeatable!"
Little Good Harbour, Barbados
"The Fish Pot restaurant was a truly memorable experience. The food we experienced was exceptional, which I am sure is why so many people, not just guests, visit on a regular basis. Staff & Graham were so accommodating and friendly."
Curtain Bluff, Antigua
"The Sea Grape and Tamarind restaurant served the most varied and interesting cuisine. The spa is incredible, and they really give you the best experience from before sitting up on the terrace & after with refreshments and nibbles! Entertainment was really good on both nights and I would also recommend the Cellar tour (with wine tasting too!) Beach was fantastic and with drinks plus towel service too. Loved the snorkelling trip and that both staff came into the sea with us to ensure we felt safe whatever level of swimmer you are. The spa area is right on the waterfront and is beautiful, the relaxation area, which is 5,000 square feet, overlooks the Caribbean Sea and it is really peaceful and tranquil."
Essential Detail hosts an annual fam trip every year. If you are a luxury travel agent and you would like to have a chance to join us on our next fam trip, sign-up to our mailing list to participate in the booking incentive 2020!
If you cannot wait until next year, take advantage of our Come & Stay programme - whereby our hotels offer two complimentary nights’ stay! To participate, you must be an Essential Detail Travel Agent. For full T's and C's contact: Katie.email@example.com
Feedback on the overall trip...
"I have no suggestions on how it could have been improved, it really was an amazing trip and experience. Thank you so much, Katie and hotels for such a great trip and we really were a great group of friends by the end!!"
One of the incredible things about our luxury hotels in the Caribbean is their ability to give back to the community. Not only with jobs for locals and the money tourism brings to the area but directly with charitable foundations.
Guests who pay for luxury often want to help give back to the community what they’ve received in experiences. The incredible relaxation, fine dining, stunning scenery and the friendliness of the Caribbean is something guests never forget. These foundations offer an excellent way of giving back and giving the community something they’ll treasure forever. Here are a few hotels from our collection of boutique properties which keep giving back.
The Jamaica Inn Foundation is a non-profit organisation which focuses on the education and wellbeing of Jamaica’s youth and the ongoing preservation of the marine life.
The marine life is being helped with a two-pronged attack, by the White River Fish Sanctuary and the Oracabessa Bay Turtle Project. These projects pay for two full-time wardens, protect against overfishing, restore local coral and protect the hatchling turtles.
These projects are seeing incredible successes with 1600 hatchlings being recorded yearly and an on-target objective of increasing the fish population by 500% in just five years.
Guests staying at the Jamaica Inn during hatching season are lucky enough to be able to participate in the event, watching baby hawksbill sea turtles hatch and make their first journey into the ocean.
*All our hotels around the Caribbean who have turtle nests do what they can to protect the area. And guests are lucky enough to be able to watch the baby turtles hatch every year.
The Old Road Fund has been supporting the youth of Antigua in the West Indies for over forty years. In fact, to date over $US 1 million has been raised!
The Old Road fund has taken Curtain Bluff’s love of tennis and sports and turned it into life-changing opportunities for the local youth.
The fund is used to send youth to tennis camps, colleges and universities throughout the US. The excellent news is a college and university in Florida have now partnered with the Old Road Fund and are supplying tourism and hospitality scholarships. This empowers the locals to bring their knowledge and love of their island to the wider world – just as it should be.
The fund also supplies uniforms and sporting equipment for the local football and cricket teams.
East Winds, Saint Lucia has gone the personal route with their family foundation. A project set-up to help the families of East Winds’ staff members.
In Saint Lucia, the average cost of books is $US 370. Much too expensive for the average family who often goes into great debt trying to buy the books and keep their children in school.
With guests joining in to champion the cause, over forty children have been given their schoolbooks each year and last year school bags and stationery too.
In Saint Lucia, and all over the Caribbean, education is a powerful tool for future generations. Helping children to stay in school results in educated youths who will be able to go on to empower their communities.
It goes without saying that these hotels are luxury, boutique and gorgeous. Offering something steps above the average hotel. But for the more culturally discerning guests knowing that they’re also giving back to the community by helping the environment and empowering the youths is a cherry on top of the cake.
Guests can donate directly to the foundations or add some money on to the hotel bill. Every little helps and every dollar adds up to contribute to some wonderful causes making true changes around the Caribbean.
The Fish Pot restaurant located within the old Fort on the waterfront offers incredible dining and open views of the Caribbean. Its wide menu is an ideal choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The varied menu offers a modern approach to both Caribbean and international dining. With the freshest ingredients and local seasoning, the food is always delectable.
If you want to make the most of the local seafood you have an outstanding selection. The catch of the day, Caribbean lobster, seafood and basil crepes, Fish Pot tapas, octopus salad and salmon cheesecake are just some of the incredible choices on offer.
Complementing this, is of course, a wide range of meat and vegetarian offers to suit the most discerning palate. The selection ranges from confit of duck and spinach and mascarpone risotto parcel to braised lamb shank, escalope of pork and Panang style vegetarian curry.
This oceanside restaurant is located on the Atlantic coast and is ideal for surfers and those exploring this scenic side of the island. The West Indian buffet lunch served on Wednesdays and Sundays is famous among locals and visitors alike.
The culinary team have created a wonderful and incredibly varied menu of authentic Bajan and Caribbean dishes all sourced from local ingredients. The a la carte menu changes week to week to reflect local catches and what’s in season, so you are always enjoying the freshest and hottest cuisine available.
The lunch menu offers a great and relaxed way to enjoy the ocean in a beautiful setting. With a range of sandwiches and burgers on offer as well as the catch of the day, fish tacos, green pea and mascarpone risotto, cashew pesto pasta and more, there is something to suit any mood.
One of the leading restaurants on the south coast, Champers has a lot to give. The large menu offers international cuisine with a bold Caribbean taste. Settle down on the open terrace and feel the romance as the lanterns and candles flicker over a view of the Caribbean Sea.
The Beach House
As the name states, this restaurant has a beautiful beachfront location on the Platinum Coast. You can pop in for a coffee or cocktail, dine in the evenings on local fare with a Mediterranean twist or enjoy the completely traditional Bajan Sunday buffet.
This restaurant offers a magical setting with outstanding food and service, making it a favourite spot with celebrities along the Platinum coast. The menu is an eclectic mix between Italian and Caribbean, so come to enjoy a perfect pasta, risotto or Filet Mignon.

This year it’s all about Essential Detail celebrating twenty years in the industry representing luxury Caribbean hotels to the trade. Still run by our founders Annette Quinn and Helen Edwards it is really something to be proud of.
We decided to host a Gala dinner as a special celebration of our achievement and to acknowledge the special partnership we have with each one of our hotels.
Held as part of our annual roadshow the gala was attended by our wonderful founders as well as everyone in the office: Siobhan, Katie and Jacquie. We missed Cheryl who was at home enjoying the first months with her new babies!
The evening shinanagins included a drinks reception, a delicious dinner and a very entertaining magiction! Part of event was to also say thanks to the hotels for the loyalty and trust that they have given Essential Detail over the years. After racking our brains as to what we can give them to show our appreciation, we came up with these rather wonderful Coconut Awards! Here are the speeches spoken during the awards which included snippets about the hotels along with a little history on each property:
We made contact with Rob in the summer of 2002 and persuaded him somehow or other to join our small portfolio of gorgeous hotels.Established over 50 years ago under the same private ownership Curtain Bluff has become one of the leading luxury resort hotels in the region today.
Thanks to you, the trade, the UK share of their business has grown hugely in the last few years and Rob backs this up by referring to his detailed analytics: hearing a lot more English voices in the bar!”
“Little Good Harbour
We first met owner Andrew Warden in 2000, over a beer at WTM. At that time, he was still developing the hotel and restaurant. When he then asked us to visit the building site, we saw the potential of the boutique hotel gem that it has become, because it captured the essence of Barbados beach life in years gone by.
And the Fish Pot soon became – and has remained – simply one of the most outstanding water-edge restaurants on Barbados, which I am sure many of you have visited.”
“Bequia Beach Hotel
A certain Katherine Hobbs from Caribtours introduced us to Bengt Mortstedt the entrepreneurial owner of Bequia Beach in 2011, and after a visit to the hotel by Helen and myself we soon persuaded him to come on board.
Bengt recently commented to us that a decade had passed since he acquired the hotel – then just 10 rooms, a romantic little restaurant and a ‘rum shack’ on the beach. With him, we have watched the hotel blossom into the top resort on Bequia along with its expansion which includes gorgeous retro style villas, 3 restaurants, a luxury yacht and a private aircraft.”
We had known Vidal Browne owner of Young Island for many years from our tour operating days and after a drink at a bar in South Ken, he soon came board with Essential Detail in 2001.
We have enjoyed working with Young Island as a true Caribbean resort over the years and General Manager Bianca Porter is relentlessly passionate about keeping the romantic, private island experience intact, there is nowhere quite like it.”
We have represented Jamaica Inn twice over the last 20 years working alongside two dynamic managers, not least the wonderful Kyle Mais! Mango Cosmopolitans and Dry Martinis at their famous bar sealed the deal each time.
This iconic hotel celebrated its 60th Anniversary last year and the warmth of the Morrow family, the management and staff are key to the success and longevity of the wonderful Inn.”
This gorgeous hotel was one of the very first to join our portfolio in 1999 when it was owned by Giuseppe Olivares whom a number of you will remember very fondly, I am sure.
It was over one of our regular lunches with him in South Ken (yes, the same watering hole!) that he suggested we set up a representation company, and the rest is history!
The simply inimitable skills of the current lady at the helm, Judith Milne, is testament to the high number of happy guests that continue to return along with her dedicated team who deliver an amazing inclusive experience.”
There are two more recent members of our portfolio who unfortunately couldn’t attend the roadshow. Firstly our ‘newbie’, Paradise Beach Nevis who joined the portfolio in January.
We fell head over heels in love with this stunning property when we visited in December last year and met owner James Cabourne. Within a few weeks, they were on board and we realized then we hadn’t lost our touch! We trust that you will support this fabulous gem on Nevis.
And the other hotelier unable to join us tonight is Ann Chen, owner of Sandy Haven in Negril, Jamaica. However, we would like to thank you for your support since we launched this little gem into the UK market a couple of years ago.”
It was a lovely speech and really great to see all our wonderful hoteliers getting their coconut award – everyone had a lot of fun!
Lastly, to thank, Jayne O’Gorman, MD at Azure for her lovely and amusing thank you speech.
And to end, here is a funny piece from the event, a poem written for us from Lee Marshall Director of Agency Sales at ITC.
I thought it quite appropriate to share a little rhyme
I’ll only be a minute, so won’t take up too much time
Congratulations Essential Detail, it’s your anniversary
I’m reading out this poem, that’s been written, well, by me.
So best wishes to Essential, your anniversary’s china
And when it comes to representing, there is really no one finer
A brand that’s here for twenty years, is well worth celebration
Let us journey back to ninety-nine, so let’s have concentration
We didn’t have an I-phone, Instagram or Snapchat
Back then we had to talk to each other, can YOU remember that?
And in the luxury market, there was still room to swing a cat
With only one or two of us; yes, we really do miss that
So thank you Essential Detail, for twenty special years
We hope you liked the poem; don’t be shedding any tears.
You’re a very valued partner, here’s to another twenty
Enjoy the celebration, because we all love you plenty
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the evening. And thank you to all the trade for their support over the past 20 years.
We want to announce a brand-new hotel! It isn’t often that we add a new property to our portfolio, but there was just something special about Paradise Beach on Nevis island. So here is a warm welcome to our latest luxury, boutique Caribbean hotel!
Paradise Beach is a collection of chic lavish villas and beach houses nestled in fragrant gardens which lead down to the best beach on Nevis. All fitted out in the height of indulgence and privacy, this is something truly special.
Nevis island is only 36-square miles, half the size of its counterpart St Kitts. Quiet, unspoilt, tranquil and heavenly are just some of the words used to describe this island.
The sumptuous accommodation consists of two-bedroom beach houses, three-bedroom villas, four-bedroom garden villas, and four-bedroom ocean villas. All villas have their own private pool. These large beautifully situated beach-houses and villas are perfect for family getaways, holidays with friends or corporate retreats.
The luxury found in your villa doesn’t stop there. With incredible care and attention given to every aspect of your stay.
A concierge will coordinate everything before you arrive, so your villa is laid out to perfection with everything you personally need or require. A member of the guest services team is also there to ensure you have a wonderful trip, arranging anything you might need.
Your villa has a fantastic kitchen, but this doesn’t mean you have to cook for yourself (unless you want to). In fact, the chefs, on request, will come to your villa and cook for you privately. Using the best local produce, seafood and spices to create magnificent gourmet dishes. And if you want to take home some of the local flavour when you leave, why not have private lessons too?
For gourmet good with a difference why not try room service with a twist? Choose from the menus of local chefs and the food will be served to you in the privacy of your villa. Or try a relaxed social evening at the Beach Bar. Just steps away from your villa, this exclusive bar can provide tasty cocktails, a charming thatched Tiki bar, dreamy hammocks and the view of the wide ocean waves.
No luxury holiday is complete without a glorious spa. In the tranquillity of your villa, any day of the week a spa therapist can come and provide custom designed treatments to truly relax your body.
Though Nevis is a small island it has a lot to offer. Most prominent is a picture-perfect volcano, just ready to hike. A five-hour round trip is perfect for a day’s outing with a guide. Footpaths and ropes will take you up to a view of Antigua, Montserrat and the open azure waters. While vervet monkeys, wild goats and lush vegetation accompany you on your journey.
As with many of the Caribbean islands, you see echoes of the colonial history around. With old plantations now beautiful estates, historical churches and the occasional ruin. Particular to Nevis is the home of Alexander Hamilton. Now most famous as a hit musical, the museum and home show the life of one of America’s founding fathers.
If you want to enjoy the local wildlife, Nevis is a perfect spot. The island itself is filled with nature, hikes can take you through the lush rainforest or you can enjoy a pleasant stroll around the verdant botanical gardens.
While the waters are teaming with life. Just minutes offshore you can snorkel and explore reefs filled with colourful fish, see underwater volcanic vents and even shipwrecks. Famous for its 800-900-pound Leatherback and Hawksbill turtles, snorkelling here is an experience never to forget.
Contact us at Essentail Detail for more information and prices and all available offers at Paradise Beach, the best that Nevis can offer.

It’s Easter, and we all know what that means – chocolate! Chocolate eggs, chocolate bunnies, Easter egg hunts and more fill these few weeks with a delicious and fun atmosphere.
But have you ever seen cocoa, the origin of chocolate, being grown? Have you ever wondered what a toasted bean tastes like, and how it turns into the chocolate you know and love?
East Winds – Saint Lucia
East Winds has an incredible Bean-to-Bar Chocolate experience available as part of their Exclusive weekly activities.
Learn all about the process of creating chocolate: harvesting, roasting, deshelling, grinding and finally adding the extras, such as milk, sugar or nuts. Discover what changes the quality of chocolate and how you can buy and enjoy the good quality stuff and not contribute to the palm oil crisis.
While learning the incredible journey of the cocoa plant enjoy a tasting session. Try a raw bean, a roasted bean and even the shells which create a medicinal tea. Grind your own beans into a paste and create your own chocolate masterpieces to take home with you – or at least back to your hotel room!
You will also be offered locally made chocolate and hot chocolate to wash it all down with. An incredible learning experience that is never anything less than fun and delicious.
East Winds has an incredible summer offer: 35% off, for all dates until 31st August 2019 if you book before 31st May. So now is the perfect time to book your holiday and enjoy summer in the Caribbean with August’s chocolate heritage month.
Chocolate Heritage Month
It is not just East Winds offering incredible chocolate experiences – the whole island joins in!
The cocoa plant is native to Central and South America but soon spread to the nearby Caribbean and beyond. Since the 1700’s St Lucia has been growing cocoa and exporting chocolate to Europe. In fact, in St Lucia, August is Chocolate Heritage month and celebrates all thing cocoa.
Tours: All around the island you can experience the heritage and roots of chocolate. On a plantation tour, see the cocoa beans black or red on the bush and learn how the farmers grow and care for the plants. You can even participate in the chocolate-making process with a course inside a cocoa fermentation house.
Tastings: Or if you’d rather enjoy the delicious taste of chocolate than its origin, the cocoa bean, then you can sit back and indulge in the incredible array of chocolate creations. With brownies, mousse, cake, hot chocolate and even chock-tails there is something to delight everyone.
Spa: If you want pure indulgence, combine a relaxing spa experience with chocolate heritage month! Good quality chocolate actually has medicinal value, high in antioxidants it can restore and hydrate your skin. Enjoy a variety of treatments including facials, body scrubs, massages and more.

February, the month of romance is here. You already know that the Caribbean with its pristine beaches, perfect weather and friendly locals is the romantic spot for you. But now, here are some incredibly romantic dining options to add to your list of reasons to visit!
Did you know that the Essential Detail Caribbean boutique hotels have incredible spots for you to dine? With the white sandy beaches, relaxing blue seas and clear skies the stage is already set for your perfect romantic evening. Here are five romantic spots dotted throughout the Caribbean for you to enjoy.
The name Bongo’s Restaurant and Dining Terrace might not shout romantic, but guests state it is: ‘perfect for a romantic escape.’ The restaurant has a stunning beach backdrop while the restaurant works tirelessly to create dining that is artistic, beautiful and flavoursome.
Whether you are there with the whole family or just your special someone, there is something on the menu for everyone. Casual outdoor eating, intimate indoor dining or the weekly cocktail party provide the perfect setting for whatever your romantic escape might be.
East Winds is famous for its beautiful setting and incredible standard of food. With a different four course gourmet meal served every night of the week and a large carefully curated wine collection, you will always get a truly special meal.
However, on top of this exceptional quality given daily, East Winds gives you even more. For special events such as anniversary’s, engagements and birthdays the almond decking gazebo is specially decorated by the head gardener and you can even have an input into the menu, designing every detail perfectly for your special occasion. With your own dedicated waiter and wine waiter for the night, at no extra charge, it will be an occasion like no other.
Jack's Bar, Princess Margaret Beach, Port Elizabeth
A romantic meal doesn’t have to be a posh one. If you would like a casual beachfront setting, where you can take in the sun, sea, salt and fresh air then Jack’s Bar is the one for you. It is set directly on the pristine Princess Margaret Beach with nothing to take away from your incredible island experience, and only delicious food to be enjoyed.
Particularly famous for their Jack’s fried chicken and tempura okra, and with fresh seafood caught daily right on your doorstep there really is something for every palate. Not forgetting the range of drinks on the menu. You can enjoy signature cocktails and a range of beer, wines and spirits. In fact, you might find you spend your whole afternoon enjoying the beach from Jack’s Bar!
The Fish Pot restaurant at Little Good Harbour is so good it is recommended as a reason, in itself, to visit Barbados! The restaurant is in a unique, beautifully restored 18thcentury fort that offers gorgeous panoramic views over the Caribbean Sea.
With a chef that always opts for the freshest ingredients and local seasonings, the menu is a delightful take on both Caribbean and international dishes. Famous for its mouth-watering lobster ravioli, pan-fried mahi-mahi and sea-bass, you can’t get better seafood in Barbados. If you want a restaurant with a unique setting and gourmet food for a romantic meal, you can’t get better than this.
The Atlantis Hotel, Barbados
The Atlantis Historic Inn is a romantic and unique boutique hotel with only nine bedrooms and a world-renowned restaurant. This restaurant is the perfect setting for a romantic evening, with views over the Atlantic Ocean and authentic West Indian cuisine.
The restaurant also offers special unique packages for functions, so if you would like to use it for a special Valentine’s meal, surprise engagement, anniversary celebration or even birthday, the team will create the perfect setting for you.
With deserts to die for and a broad selection ranging from chocolate voodoo cake and coconut cream pie to vegan banana bread there truly is a sweet temptation on the menu for everyone.
What romantic means to everyone is unique and different and that is why each restaurant we have suggested provides a uniquely aesthetic setting, a distinct environment and of course an exceptional menu. These Caribbean restaurants offer you a range of casual beach-front options to privately hosted special dinners. They truly are the perfect romantic spots for every couple this February!
The beautiful East Winds hotel is always working on upping its aesthetic game and improving all aspects of its guests stay. This time the new addition is an incredible hand-painted mural. An artistic impression of the flora and fauna you would expect to see during your holiday.
The mural is created by the talented British wildlife artist, Brin Edwards. It gives you a tour of the wonderful environment of Saint Lucia. All of which is on hand right outside your hotel room during your stay at East Winds.
Play the game of spotting in the mural, and on the island: Antillean Crested hummingbirds, bananaquits, ruddy turnstones, Carib grackles, mangrove crabs, green turtles and frigates.
And no picture of life (or stay) at East Winds would be complete without, of course, Stanley the dog featured within the mural!
You may come to East Winds for its incredible cuisine, award-winning service or relaxing spa but spotting some local wildlife on the beach, trees or around the hotel can often be a special experience you will never forget.
Brin Edwards is already famous at East Winds for illustrating the wonderful nature guide, written by Managing Partner, Judith Milne, which is found in all hotel rooms. It allows guests to take a self-guided tour around the property to spot all the unique wildlife that is on hand.
And any previous guest will spot Brin Edwards handy-work on the annual Christmas cards. A beautiful addition to the mantelpiece every December.
East Winds has a tradition of commissioning artists to create unique pieces for the hotel. Local artist, Michelle Elliott has created numerous pieces around the hotel, many of which can be found in individual guest rooms.
We are happy to see one of our hotels continuing this beautiful artistic tradition and hope many of you will see it in person!

Oscar Wilde knew what he was talking about when he said: “There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.”
It’s good to be in the news. Especially when the magazines, newspapers, bloggers, online publications, and even a top apparel company are saying such wonderful things about Curtain Bluff. And it’s not just the editors who are swooning. The readers’ surveys are saying again and again that Curtain Bluff are sweeping away the competition (Travel + Leisure readers just ranked us among “the World’s Best Beach Hotels” and Trip Advisor users voted us #1 resort in Antigua).
Here is a sample taken from recent media coverage (since November 2016):
In February The Mail on Sunday devoted an entire page to the resort, calling it a “Caribbean Classic.” “I am in love with it,” wrote actress Tina Hobley. “I ended up being blown away by the wonderful world of Curtain Bluff…Usually I think the world’s a big place, so why would you want to go return somewhere? But, hand on heart, I would go back to Curtain Bluff in a flash.”
The Daily Mail followed up with a long online article that described Curtain Bluff as“a well-kept secret for the (lucky) few who know they are on to a good thing,” noting that its “old-world values make it first choice for the most discerning vacationer.”
“Roosting cozily on a rocky peninsula,” wrote Condé Nast Traveller,“the 72 rooms and suites are absorbed into a tropical grove with meandering pathways…To one side, a beach so calm it feels like walking into a just-run bath…to the other, a much more dramatic stretch of sand.”
In its article “the best spa hotels in the Caribbean,” The Daily Telegraphdescribed our rooms as “contemporary and luxurious, with plush fabrics and marble bathrooms. They all have fantastic views of the sea.” As for the excellent spa: “…it has a cliff-edge hot tub and four treatment rooms with views out over the ocean.”
In its article, “Where To Go For Winter Sun,” Harper’s Bazaar listed only seven resorts worldwide. And yes, you guessed it, Curtain Bluff was front and center.
“Fine dining at its best…the food is mouth-wateringly tasty, the live music adds an infectious buzz and the wine flows freely all night.” National Geographic Traveller
The famous American apparel brand, J Crew, chose to shoot some of its spring 2017 catalog at Curtain Bluff. After the shoot the company went out of its way to praise the resort, “we stayed at the island’s famous tennis resort Curtain Bluff…besides being a pretty dreamy place to spend a few days, you can get some feel-good vibes knowing that the resort started a fund to help support its local community with educational grants and health care.”
In addition to being a leading search engine, Orbitz.compasses on travel recommendations to its eye-popping 24.3 million visitors per month. In its April 2017 roundup of “the best all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean for family vacations” it wrote “Kids of all ages, as well as their parents, will love the easygoing ambiance, unlimited watersports (including tubing and waterskiing), luxe spa and gorgeous beaches.”
The lifestyle web site, Islands.com, summed up our atmosphere when it wrote: “Time spent at Curtain Bluff immerses you in understated luxury fused with a warm, old fashioned family vibe.”
AFAR magazine called Curtain Bluff an “Antigua classic” and gushed that “constant love, improvement, and expansion has turned this island home-away-from-home into a 72-room world-class resort.”
The revered style arbiter, Architectural Digest, raved about their newly renovated Hulford Suites and the look for the fall “On 28th October, Antigua’s intimate Curtain Bluff will welcome guests after a six-month closure and a $13 million refresh.”
“Curtain Bluff is a low-key retreat that feels more like a private club than an all-inclusive resort – thanks, in part, to its family ownership…After only a short while, it’s easy to see why so many families come back year after year. Many of these ‘repeaters’ affectionately refer to Curtain Bluff as their island home, smitten with the friendly staff, laid-back vibe and everything-included affordability.” CiaoBambino.com
From Autumn this year guests staying at Young Island can experience the fresh new décor and furniture at Captain Bligh’s Bar. Named after Captain William Bligh, the 18th-century explorer who brought exotic plants from Tahiti to St. Vincent helping to colonize the island, relax in an aura of refinement fit for a brave sea captain.
Sweet sounds of Caribbean music fill the air as drinks are poured and toasts are made in this intimate spot. For your sundowner cocktails, wine or beer, this is the place to begin your evening at Young Island.
This is one of two bars at Young Island. The second is the Coconut Bar just offshore, take a leisurely swim over to this bar, climb up and claim your seat. Be sure to try their signature Coconut Delight served fresh in the actual coconut plucked just for your drink.
Enjoy Caribbean drinks, specialty rums and liquors. Sip on tropical tipples while gazing at stunning boats gliding across the waters of this international sailing hub.
The Ocean Spa at Jamaica Inn has been crowned as “Jamaica’s Best Hotel Spa” at the prestigious World Spa Awards held in Maldives last month. This globally recognised award enhances the reputation of Jamaica Inn as among the leading hotels in the Caribbean and the best luxury spa hotel in Jamaica.
The World Spa Awards celebrates and rewards spa industry excellence and is positioned as the pinnacle of achievement for luxury spa hotels worldwide. The programme is divided into a number of categories including; Best Hotel Spa, Best Resort Spa and Best Spa Brand with votes cast by professionals working within the spa industry including senior executives, travel buyers, tour operators, agents, media and by the public.
The World Spa Awards cited the Ocean Spa’s “Locally-inspired ethos” as one of the main reasons for its selection as ‘Jamaica’s Best Hotel Spa’.
Housed in a collection of rustic thatch-roofed huts surrounded by tropical gardens, the Ocean Spa’s philosophy “In Balance, with Nature” is reflected in the locally inspired treatments which use products drawn from the plants of the island, sourced from local organic farmers and wild-gathered. Treatments include a selection of facials, massages and body treatments, along with private yoga. Don’t leave without experiencing the services of the world class Ocean Spa on your next visit to Jamaica Inn!

Prince Charles book launched at the Ritz London hotel 14 November, 2018 — To mark the 70th birthday of Prince Charles, Our Future King: Prince Charles at 70. Celebrating a lifetime of achievement and heralding his current and future roles and responsibilities, this highquality, coffee-table book charts the Prince’s seven decades; from his early years through to his present status as one the most significant figures on the world stage, and includes one of our exquiste all-inclusive Caribbean boutique hotels, East Winds, Saint Lucia!
The fully illustrated hardback was launched in the refined setting of the Ritz London hotel in Piccadilly.
Our Future King: Prince Charles at 70 is edited by the best-selling, awardwinning author Robert Jobson, who has chronicled the story of the House of Windsor for the past 30 years. Robert is the royal editor of the Evening Standard in the UK, the royal contributor for NBC’s Today Show and Forbes magazine in the US, and is a regular on the Seven Network’s Sunrise and The Morning Show in Australia, and on TVNZ’s Breakfast programme in New Zealand.
Speaking at the launch, Richard Freed, CEO and owner of the SJH Group, said: “This commemorative album is yet another prestigious publication in our long list of books celebrating landmark events such as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. We are extremely proud of this book and honoured to be working with the likes of Robert Jobson and alongside such exceptional companies and organisations on this project.”
Recently East Winds, Saint Lucia presented their first batch of school books to a number of local Saint Lucian families. These books were purchased with the money raised either through a one-off donation or ongoing support from their generous guests. Thank you to everyone who has helped support this worthy cause.
Details about the Foundation by Judith Milne, Managing Partner
The average cost of books is EC $1,000 per year or US $370. Those families who did manage to keep their children in school often did so by borrowing the money to pay for books, at high-interest rates, with the result of causing general hardship for the whole family as they struggle to pay off the loan before the next set of books is needed.
In a country like Saint Lucia, education for future generations is a powerful tool to support the families that we have come to care about and to help create a positive future for their children. Helping to keep children in school results in educated young people who are able to contribute to their communities and their family, breaking the cycle of poverty that affects so many families in the Caribbean.
If you would like to help us help our families, either through a one-off donation or ongoing support then please contact me at email@example.com.
When you stay with us the donation will be added to your final bill when you check out. We suggest a donation of US $1 per night per room. If all of our guests make this small donation then we will be able to keep all of the East Winds family children in school until the age of 16. Now wouldn’t that be a wonderful achievement?!
The East Winds Kitchen Garden was established in 2017 to stabilise the supply of organic fresh fruit and vegetables to the kitchen.
East Winds rotate our crops through the year to supply the kitchen with fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables for guests and staff enjoyment. It is a wonderful opportunity for guests to visit a garden full of locally grown food and see the traditional farming methods used in Saint Lucia.
In addition to the fruit and vegetable garden they also have their own living Banana Museum. An example of every type of banana is grown here and harvested in the traditional Saint Lucia style before the fruit finds its way to the East Winds kitchen.
Both gardens are watered using Water Recycling Plant installed in the hotel in 2017. It means that no water meant for the local population is used in the garden, we have a supply of our own water, recycled on site.

This is part three of five blogs written by Katie Wilkinson following a luxury fam trip to the Caribbean, which she recently hosted with Siobhan Randles, visiting several of our exquisite Essential Detail hotels.
On arrival at the lavish new reception at Curtain Bluff, Antigua, we were each greeted with a fresh cold towel and a cool rum punch by the warm and friendly owner, Chelle Hulford and Resident Manager, Wendy. After being handed our keys we were escorted to our breathtaking, Beachfront, Junior Suites. Unlike most hotels in the Caribbean, Curtain Bluff has two beaches. One beach for activities and one which houses all the rooms and suites (meaning all the accommodation has a beachfront view - good tip to know when booking your clients here!).
Having arrived on a Tuesday, we were fortunate to be invited to Chelle’s cocktail party at her home on the top of the Bluff House. The views from here are incredible. On a good clear day, you can just about make out the island of Montserrat not too far away. We raised a glass to the gorgeous evening, whilst watching the sunset. It’s easy to see why the Bluff House is a popular location for a wedding drinks reception. There is something very special about the place that makes it so magical and tranquil.
After a wonderful night’s sleep, we met for breakfast at the newly refurbished Tamarind Tree restaurant where we discussed the day’s activities. The hardest decision was which beach to spend the day on and how many of the endless number of water sports, spa treatments and activities we could squeeze into one day! One thing was for certain, we were all in agreement to do as much as we could to get the best out of our day at this beautiful, all-inclusive resort. Before this though we had a guided tour of the property, where Wendy was happy to show off all the new additions to the property and the luxurious rooms and suites.
The key thing to know about Curtain Bluff when selling it to clients is that there is something for everyone. The all-inclusive service includes a whole list of activities such as tennis, yoga and watersports plus a spectacular choice of cuisine and fine wines. Curtain Bluff’s refurbishment means that it’s very much suited to everyone whether you are the modern-day couple, a family of all ages (the new Kids Club is a fantastic new facility for young children) or the older client returning time after time. This fabulous resort really is for everyone.
Travel Agent Feedback
"Stunning location, fabulous rooms, excellent food and the staff are a credit to Chelle." Louise Mould.
"Curtain Bluff really is heaven on Earth, all the luxury and facilities of any of the very best 5* hotels I have encountered and at the same time the total relaxing personal uncrowded feel of the best boutique hotel." Martin Flanagan Travel Counsellors
"Very Impressive 5* property, it has a lot of charm and character." Donna Choolan Evans Travel PA
Having just stayed at Curtain Bluff, I would be more than happy to discuss any questions you may have about the property. Please contact our office for further details.
“Arriving on Bequia we were greeted by Jenson and his smart open back truck to take us to the fabulous 1950’s chic Bequia Beach hotel. What a treat we had in store at Bequia Beach Hotel for our travel agents. Greeted on arrival with a chilled class of rum punch we were taken to our wonderful beach front Junior Suites that we were delighted to call home for the next two nights. These rooms are split level suites with separate sitting area in an attractive 3-storey building with lovely ocean and garden views and large bathrooms - offering the largest double accommodation at the hotel.
Bequia island is one of the most beautiful and secluded islands within the Grenadines. If you are searching for a true hideaway island that’s hidden from the tourist radar, this is it!
During our stay we had the chance to explore the island which is highly recommended. You will find peaceful and secluded white sand beaches with extraordinary panoramic views. Dining is available all over the island, guests have a choice of Caribbean and European dining at numerous local restaurants - an excellent choice for such a small island.
We had great fun making cocktails, being pampered with luxurious spa treatments at the hotel spa, had lunch at the beachside Jacks Bar and dancing at Bequia Carnival!
We managed to relax but also make the very most of our two night stay before jetting off on a private charter to Saint Lucia.”
Feed back from the travel agents on Bequia Beach Hotel
"Bequia was by far my favourite Island capturing my heart from the moment I arrived!’ Bequia Beach Hotel is a truly charming property with authentic warm Caribbean hospitality." Fran Wetherby Travel
"Bequia Beach is a hidden Gem – Understated Luxury in well maintained grounds and great well finished beach front junior suites." Matthew Baron Baldwins Travel.
"Bequia Beach Hotel is a beautiful low rise property with exceptionally friendly staff. The rooms are lovely and large." Donna Choolan Evans
Our Essential Detail Luxury Fam trip took place last month, hosted by Agency Sales Manager Katie Wilkinson and Product and Marketing Manager Siobhan Randles. The girls set off with six wonderful travel agents from London Gatwick with British Airways for a fabulous week to the Caribbean, where they had the chance to really show off some of our gorgeous hotels.
This five part blog written by Katie highlights the hotels visited during this week long trip . . . and what the group got up to.
“Wow! On arrival into East Winds beautiful and lavish tropical gardens, home to several species of plant and birdlife, it was, for me personally, great to be back and for the rest the group a pleasure to be here for the first time. Our stay would be for one night only, a taster of what this boutique hotel has to offer. It was at full occupancy and there was a wonderful buzz about the property.
We enjoyed a plentiful beach BBQ for lunch, followed by an afternoon at leisure enjoying snorkelling, sailing and drinking delicious cocktails on the beach and around the pool. We took turns in making our own cocktails at the self service swim-up pool bar, which was great fun!
Before sunset we took to the sea on a Sunset Cruise which included an abundance of canapés and chilled Champagne, before returning to a delightful 4 course evening meal (with silver service) and entertainment, at the beachfront Flamboyant Restaurant.
For a 30-room hotel we were impressed with the amount on offer at East Winds. Having a menu of weekly Exclusive Experiences, watersports, Pilates and yoga, there is a wealth of things to do set in a stunning tropical setting. Given the refurbished of the rooms, beach bar, furniture and pool area, along with incredible food and friendly and attentive staff, we can easily see why this hotel is so popular and guests return time and time again.”
Feedback from our agents about East Winds
‘A very special place, - it is very apparent that Judith is very hands on and it shows in the seemless service and operation of the whole resort.’ Francesca Dubery
‘My fave hotel of the ones visited. A very small boutique hotel, beautiful grounds which they take huge pride in, I saw so many Hummingbirds!' Donna Choolan Evans
‘Superb attention to detail and customer service.’ – Louise Mould
