Jamaica’s diversity makes it an exciting and vibrant destination. From the Blue Mountain range right down to the golden sandy beaches, Jamaica is oozing with natural beauty and there is something for everyone.

Its rich culture means there is always something interesting to do or see, from the Bob Marley celebrations to the Jerk Festival during the summer.

Jamaica is a world class destination for golf, as well as many other sporting activities including land and water based sports, hiking trails, river rafting, as well as some of the more sedate pursuits such as bird watching and discovering the natural flora and fauna that Jamaica has in abundance.

Jamaicans are great entertainers and renowned artisans so part of any itinerary must include a visit to a Rum shop, Jerk station, art gallery or a market just to enjoy their unique spirit.

Our recommended places to stay - Jamaica Inn and Sandy Haven.

Why Jamaica Inn?

Jamaica is one of the most naturally beautiful, diverse and popular destinations in the Caribbean and Jamaica Inn allow its guests to enjoy all of the beauty of the island from a peaceful and relaxing haven. We love the fact that you can lose yourself in the stillness that surrounds the hotel, with no reminders of the outside world and just seemingly endless tranquillity.

The entire property is stylishly decorated but our favourite bit has to be the huge balconies and verandahs extending from each suite. Fully furnished, they act more like open air living rooms and it’s easy to see why they are the hotel’s crowning glory. The General Manager and his team ensure attentive yet unobtrusive personal service.

Why Sandy Haven resort?

True Boutique luxury on Negril’s famous seven-mile hip strip of fine white sand beach … a perfect beachfront setting, this is ‘contemporary boutique’ at its best. The décor is exquisite and contemporary with a stylish nod to Jamaica in terms of the art and the vibrant colours that feature around the property.

The advantage here is that although the hotel has various meal plans available, there is the buzzy Negril ‘hip strip’ just on the doorstep, with restaurants and bars for guests to experience during the day, or at night. In our opinion Sandy Haven is a perfect small privately owned stylish resort, where the atmosphere is casual with a cool laid back Jamaican vibe … all available for a very keen price.

Grenada is the island that has it all. Dramatic scenery, tropical rain forests, waterfalls, white sand beaches, turquoise sea and some of the warmest and friendlies people you’ll ever meet.

Known as the "Isle of Spice" because it produces and exports the second largest amount of spices in the world. Hard to believe for such a small island!

Divers are spoilt for choice, between the healthy, flourishing coral reefs and underwater volcanoes; the countless shipwrecks or the eerily beautiful Underwater Sculpture Park.

And the historic capital of St. George’s is further evidence that this flawless island has preserved its cultural authenticity.

We recommend the Calabash hotel.

Our love affair with Calabash has lasted for many years and is in part due to the seductiveness of the prettiest of all the Caribbean islands, Grenada, with its warm people, fabulous beaches and lush countryside.

However, the appeal of this particular hotel is due to the fact that it is extremely well run by The Garbutt Family, with the focus on personal attention. Whilst Calabash is certainly a top class property, and Grenada’s best, the emphasis is on pure elegance and Caribbean informality, which is incredibly addictive. With the new branding and refurbishment that took place at the Calabash in Autumn 2015, it has brought the hotel up to another level with its amazing new infinity pool, fabulous refurbished suites and the to ‘die for’ ultra-modern bathrooms.

The food at The Rhodes Restaurant and The Beach Club is simply outstanding and is complimented by the truly magical ambience. All suites are styled with a luxurious and contemporary feel, and the fabulous Spa is a must.

Saint Vincent & The Grenadines

St. Vincent & the Grenadines is a nation of 32 islands located in the Lesser Antilles between St. Lucia (24 miles to the north) and Grenada (75 miles to the south). It evokes an emotive response with visions of exotic, idyllic island life.

St Vincent is largest Grenadine Island and home to the capital, Kingstown. This lively town is a throwback to colonial times with cobblestone streets and locals rushing about. The lush green, rain forested interior has some great hiking and natural walk options.

Bequia is a true hideaway island, hidden from the tourist’s radar yet with numerous exciting and different activities available which is steeped in history with tales from the swashbuckling days of Blue Beard and his band of pirates that created havoc sailing the Caribbean seas, alongside Bequian eccentricities that are truly one of a kind.

You can enjoy great Caribbean and European dining at the numerous local restaurants – there is an excellent choice for such a small island.

Our recommendations of places to stay - Young Island and Bequia Beach Hotel

Why Young Island?

A property, which we believe, creates the atmosphere of a true Caribbean holiday – set in 13 acres on its own private island away from the stresses and strains of everyday life.

It is pure escapism, but you can easily re-join the 21st century when you are ready! Young Island will appeal to a wide range of guests and couples looking for some variety and a sense of adventure will be attracted by the chance to spend a few nights during their holiday sailing through the Grenadines (refer to the Sailaway Packages).

Why Bequia Beach Hotel?

Bequia Beach Hotel is something special and secret that we really would rather keep to ourselves! Owner Bengt Mortstedt has created a hotel that mixes retro style with modern day chic, combined with all the conveniences one would expect from a luxury new hotel. Neither pretentious, nor stuffy and where you can easily throw away all inhibitions without a care, thus enabling you to enjoy a bare foot in the sand experience and a truly memorable holiday at fantastic value for money. And the ‘piece de resistance’ is the island of Bequia which has kept its true Caribbean charm intact, while picking and choosing what it wants from the 21st century – something that is right on impossible to find!
