This week we asked our hoteliers what was their favourite bottle of wine and what food would complement it?
Here are just a few responses…
Owner Timothy Hoffman from Montpelier Plantation & Nevis suggests the Francis Ford Coppola Sofia Rose:
At first glance the great bottle shape catches your eye. Rose is such a great wine to drink in the Caribbean heat as it goes well with almost any island dish. The Coppola Sofia Rose is derived from the Pinto Noir grapes and offers exuberant fruits such as strawberries, cherries and raspberries along with a few citrus notes.
General Manager Ross Stevenson from Cap Maison, St Lucia had two favourites:
Gruner Veltliner - Kamptaler Terrassen 2006 - Brundlmayer, Austria Lively, spicy and elegant, the Gruner Veltliner grape is a masterful display by Austria's best producer. A great white for our climate with low acidity works well with light fish dishes. Chateau du Hureau 2005 Saumur-Champigny - Loire - France Intense ruby colour, beautifully aromatic with rich berry palate, this Cabernet Franc wine is packed with resveratrol . A Great tonic for your heart! A very earthy wine and you can taste the terroir – works well with beef and any type of stew.
And wine enthusiast Australian owner Andrew from Little Good Harbour and The Atlantis Barbados suggested without a doubt Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay – Naturally from Western Australia. Food to go with it – pretty much anything – fresh seafood and salads with some nice bread and hard cheese to finish up – yum.
